What

IS GHOST ICE?

Ghost Ice is clear ice made from our directional freezing trays. Our trays are made to be EXTREMELY DURABLE, and EXTRA LARGE, with quality and quantity at the forefront.  Ghost Ice trays were designed for busy bars that would like to make batches of clear ice in their own walk-in or chest freezer. It was designed by a bartender, with owners, bartenders, and bar backs in mind. Not only does this tool make perfectly clear ice, it is also extremely easy to execute. We have made ripping trays, smashing ice, and mandatory carving a thing of the past. Watch the first 15 seconds of our video below to see just how easy Ghost Ice is to use!

WHy

GHOST ICE?

Clear Ice has become a staple of a high quality bar and immediately elevates every drink it accompanies. Cocktail programs all over the world are implementing some type of clear ice program at the cost of thousands of dollars per year. Designed by a bartender that saw that value of clear ice, but who’s bar was not currently paying for an ice program, Ghost Ice was designed to bridge the gap between quality of ice and the associated costs. With Ghost Ice trays, you can make your own clear ice using tap water straight to the trays, 48 CUBES AT A TIME. Our trays produce cubes that are 2” X 2” X 2-3”. These trays are designed to be high strength so they can be used daily.

HOW

DOES GHOST ICE WORK?

Ghost Ice is made using the Directional Freezing Method. This process mimics how lakes freeze, insulated on all sides except the top. During this process, the water freezes from the top down slowly, freezing only the most pure water first, then pushing all air and other impurities towards the bottom creating a big block of ice that is half clear half cloudy.

Skilled bartenders know this method very well. Many of these bartenders have learned the art of carving the ice into small blocks, but this method is not sustainable for bars due to the time it takes to carve. Some have tried to use regular silicone trays to  separate the ice, but the trays can easily fall into the water, becoming one with the block of ice. This tool eliminates all of these problems. Due to the size, and durability of our Ghost Ice trays, once you slide the trays into the required cooler, it basically creates a barrier between the clear ice and the cloudy ice.
